Bill's markers also show the same slight mutation as mine, plus another one - This indicates that the mutation we share occurred before our lines diverged - Bill is descended from John-Joseph-Phillip-Benjamin OLIN's son Benjamin, while I am descended from son John.
Since Tom OLIN has the original "OLIN Y", that indicates that all his male OLIN ancestors also had it. Tom is descended from John-Joseph-Joseph OLIN. This indicates that the mutation Bill & I share occurred with either John-Joseph-Phillip OLIN or his son Benjamin. If someone has that same mutation from the original "OLIN Y" we can at least assume they are a member of the John-Joseph-Phillip OLIN Branch.
In the future, if someone descended from one of the other sons of Phillip comes up with results that show the mutation, they would confirm it occurred with Phillip - if the descendant doesn't have the mutation, then it proves it happened with Benjamin.
