Happy Anniversary!

Three hundred years ago today, John OLIN and Susannah SPENCER exchanged wedding vows. With that simple act, they began the creation of a legacy that today includes tens of thousands of their descendants.

Today, some of us will celebrate that event, without which we would not be here. At the least, we will enjoy communing with close family members and cousins. We might also think about those who came before us and wonder what they were like, how they lived, what challenges and struggles they faced to survive and flourish, and what they might think of their progeny of today. And we might ask whether our own descendants, three hundred years from now, will remember them and us and wonder how we lived.

I hope all of you will pause today and celebrate the event that started our family.

Happy anniversary, John and Susannah! And thanks!
